On Monday 13 June we went to TeAna. We learnt that a long time ago when Maori people lived on the coast they used to travel up the river to get kai. Sometimes they took shelter in caves. They used ground up rock mixed with weka oil to make paint to paint on the caves walls. Some of these pictures are still on the cave walls hundreds of years later!
